Family reunion of parent(s) to minor or unborn child
You are required to present a valid passport (min. validity 6 months).
The following documents must be presented to the Embassy during your appointment. Make sure to handover only complete applications.

- Filled in application form (national visa) + declaration form (Section 54 (2) 8 in conjunction with Section 53 of the Residence Act)
- 3 biometric passport photos of the applicant (not older than 6 months)
- Copy of all pages of applicant’s passport (A4 size copy)
- Copy of data and signature page of child’s passport (A4 size copy)
- Copy of data and signature page of other parent’s passport (A4 size copy)
- If child is a Non-German: Copy of child’s residence permit (“Aufenthaltstitel”) for Germany
- If child is a recognized refugee or entitled to asylum/ subsidiary protection: Copy of the notice of recognition of the BAMF
- Copy of child’s “Meldebescheinigung” (and if applicable other parent) living in Germany, not older than 6 months
- Original Singhalese/Tamil children’s birth certificate + copy + translation
- If applicable (unborn child): medical confirmation with the estimated date of birth
- If applicable (unborn child): acknowledgement of paternity according to German law

- Original Singhalese/Tamil applicant’s birth certificate + copy + translation
- If applicable: Original Singhalese/Tamil parents’ marriage certificate + scanned copy certified by the Ministry of Foreign Relations and translation or German marriage certificate
- If applicable: Original Singhalese/Tamil parents’ Decree Absolute and Decree Nisi + scanned copy certified by the Ministry of Foreign Relations mentioning the custody of the child + translation
- If applicable: Original Singhalese/Tamil death certificate of the deceased parent + copy + translation
Please submit all original documents with two copies. Moreover, every set has to be sorted already in the correct order as showed above!
Fee: EUR 75 (to be paid in Rs., by credit card or cash, not applicable when joining a German parent) – no refund in case of rejection! Conversion into Rs. is made based on the exchange rate at the time of application.
As your application will also be forwarded to the competent immigration authorities in Germany, the visa procedure will take at least three months. Furthermore, the required formal verification of Sri Lankan documents has to be completed. During that time no status inquiries are answered. Please refrain from contacting us during the procedure of your application. |

False or falsified documents will lead to the refusal of the visa and / or further consequences.
Incomplete applications may result in refusal. Complete documentation does not guarantee a visa approval.
