Family reunion of minor child to parent(s)

You are required to present a valid passport (min. validity 6 months).

The following documents must be presented to the Embassy during your appointment. Make sure to handover only complete applications.

Submitted
  • Filled in application form (national visa) + declaration form (Section 54 (2) 8 in conjunction with Section 53 of the Residence Act)
  • 3 biometric passport photos of the applicant (not older than 6 months)
  • Copy of all pages of applicant’s passport (A4 size copy)
  • Copy of data and signature page only of parents’ passport (A4 size copy)
  • If parent(s) is/are Non-German: Copy of parent’s residence permit (“Aufenthaltstitel”) for Germany
  • If parent(s) is/are recognized refugee(s) or entitled to asylum/ subsidiary protection: Copy of the notice of recognition of the BAMF
  • Copy of parent’s “Meldebescheinigung” living in Germany, not older than 6 months
  • If applicable: Original Singhalese/Tamil parents’ marriage certificate + scanned copy certified by the Ministry of Foreign Relations + translation or German marriage certificate
  • If applicable: Original Singhalese/Tamil parents’ Decree Absolute and Decree Nisi + scanned copy certified by the Ministry of Foreign Relations mentioning the custody of the child + translation
  • If applicable: Original Singhalese/Tamil death certificate of the deceased parent + copy + translation
  • Original Singhalese/Tamil applicant’s birth certificate + copy + translation
  • Additionally for children older than 16 years: C1 certificate issued by Goethe Institut

Please submit all original documents with two copies. Moreover, every set has to be sorted already in the correct order as showed above!

Fee: EUR 37,50 (to be paid in Rs., by credit card or cash, not applicable when joining a German parent) – no refund in case of rejection! Conversion into Rs. is made based on the exchange rate at the time of application.

As your application will also be forwarded to the competent immigration authorities in Germany, the visa procedure will take at least three months. Furthermore, the required formal verification of Sri Lankan documents has to be completed.

During that time no status inquiries are answered. Please refrain from contacting us during the procedure of your application.

Note further:

False or falsified documents will lead to the refusal of the visa and / or further consequences. Incomplete applications may result in refusal.

Complete documentation does not guarantee a visa approval. The German Embassy Colombo reserves the right to ask for additional documents and / or call applicant for additional information or interview.
